It ensures that large businesses comply with national food safety regulations and standard hygiene metrics.
Eligibility Criteria
Your business requires a Central License if it falls under any of the following parameters:
Turnover: Annual business turnover exceeds ₹20 Crores (Note: Specific categories like e-commerce or large scale importers may require a threshold check of up to ₹50 Crores depending on recent regulatory directives).
Multi-State Operations: Operating separate food units or branches across multiple states (requires a Central License for the Head/Registered Office).
Importers & Exporters: Any business engaged in the import or export of food items.
Large Manufacturers: Dairy units handling over 50,000 litres/day, or vegetable oil processing units exceeding 2 Metric Tonnes (MT) per day.
Premises under Central Agencies: Food catering or processing operations located at Airports, Seaports, Defense premises, or Indian Railway premises.
E-Commerce: Platforms selling food products online via their own digital ecosystems.
